Sam Knight's lively young quintet plays original compositions, drawing strongly from the jazz giants that have most influenced him during his time at the Guildhall School of Music. It's straight-ahead jazz, performed with flair and passion.
This is exciting and passionate music from a young saxophone player who has always impressed me with his mature attitude to playing. Original; and he’s done his homework! A new jazz voice!

The Sam Knight Quintet is a band consisting of current and former students of the Royal Academy and Guildhall School of Music. Combined, the band members have played in many different settings from Jazz-Fusion to Duos, and they all bring these experiences into the Quintet, creating unique and vibrant colours of sound.
The band plays original music that has been influenced by the compositional works of the great Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, Jaga Jazzist & Nils Petter Molvær to name a few. The band explores the tradition of British and Germanic Jazz, putting into perspective the close historical bond between Scandinavia and the British Isles. From gentle pieces that float you through the Fjords of Norway, to music that paints a scene of a rainy urban England in Winter - this reflective ensemble will capture any audience and transport them to another world.
